I like a book that explores human emotion and how one deals with trauma. This book handles the subject very well and shows how people deal with trauma in different ways.
Tug is haunted by his time in Africa and finds it extremely difficult to cope in the comfortable world. Annie struggles with her family dynamic and lashes out against the world and her own pain in ways that have a variety of outcomes, but through it all she has an exterior of steel. Mitch escapes his demons by taking a geograpical cure. This only leads to the need for more change of geography. Trouble is, his demons are with him wherever he ends up.
The common thread with these three is Grace. Grace has her own struggles and how these stories are woven together makes for a compelling read.
