This book is to me, what Love in the Time of Cholera should have been! Life long love, which started at a young age, finally comes full circle later in life. The difference here is a that I actually liked Henry!!! As well, this one is told in flash backs, between 1942-1945 and 1986 rather than through the slog of a life of unrequited love!

I agree that the "online" references were a bit comical for 1986, but otherwise, the story of the Japanese internment was the most interesting aspect of the story. Anyone who's read any kind of novel like this before, would have a pretty accurate expectation of the ending I'd say, but how the book gets there, made for a good, and somewhat educational read.

I will be going to the Panama Hotel next time I'm in Seattle!!
